ICS is part of a project for raising the awareness of the risks of earthquakes
The Institute of Communication Studies is a partner of the project Integrative Strengthening of Seismic Risk Awareness (ISRA). The aim of the project is to raise the awareness of institutions, health authorities, schools and the local community in the border region of Macedonia, Albania and Greece about the risk of earthquakes and the secondary risk of soil erosion.
Citizens are the first to deal with the effects of earthquakes and other natural or man-made disasters, until professional help arrives. Hence, it is extremely important to increase the awareness of citizens in better preparation before the occurrence of these disasters, as well as in dealing with them.
The goal of the project will be achieved through research on best practices in raising awareness of earthquake risks, creating informative materials for the general public, a social media campaign, communicating with local authorities and institutions for protection, rescue and crisis management, as well as implementing field trainings.
The project is led by the Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology (IZIIS), while partners besides ICS are Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece; Eucentre Foundation of Pavia, Italy; Polytechnic University of Tirana, Albania. The project is financed by the European Union and lasts from December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2024.
