Six high school journalism teams selected in the competition “BeMediActive”
The Commission for Selection of Six High School Journalism Teams in the “BeMediActive” Competition (#BeMediActive), organized by the Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) and the Delegation of the European Union, has selected the teams that together with their media partners will produce media products.
Grants for making media products will receive:
- PSU SABA from Skopje with Radio Free Europe
- SOMU “Gostivar” with Alfa TV
- High school “Mirce Acev” Prilep with TV 24 Vesti
- Bogdanci High School with TV Vis
- High School “Josip Broz Tito” – Bitola with Terra TV
- High school “Ismet Jashari” – Lipkovo with the daily newspaper Koha
The competition received 61 applications, from a total of 26 schools and 39 media. The commission, composed of Tamara Ljupeva, a professor, Stefan Mitic, a high school student, Arta Tahiri, a journalist and editor at Alsat M TV and two ICS representatives, were guided by the following criteria: originality of the proposed idea, which reflects on the quality of life. youth, the argumentation and the possibility of solving the problem, the expressed will to apply research journalistic techniques, as well as the capacity of the media to support high school teams.
ICS will organize journalistic workshops for the selected teams, which will detail the plan for production of high school ideas. Each team will work with mentor support from the media partner. The journalistic stories, in addition to being published in the media, will be presented at a final event / debate that ICS and the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of North Macedonia will organize in March 2020 in Skopje. The debate will be part of a series of events organized by the European Commission as part of the European Media Literacy Week 2020.
