The Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) has the pleasure to invite you to the international conference “Opening the shutters: Tackling political disinformation with increased institutional transparency”. The conference will be held on December 13, 2022, at the Limak Skopje hotel, starting at 09:30.

At the Conference there will be presentation of the initial findings of the ICS research on the transparency of the Macedonian government as a basis for preventing disinformation, but also whether there are institutional and human capacities for identifying and dealing with disinformation.

The discussion will include international research on the ways of measuring the spread of disinformation and the damage that occurs in society; the instrumentalization of disinformation for political purposes; Government strategies to prevent disinformation, as well as hybrid attacks and threats.

Important note: For participants registered outside of Skopje, travel expenses will be covered in the amount of a bus ticket, only by submitting a receipt and ticket. Due to limited funding, costs will be covered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The international conference is organized as part of the project “Use facts: Use of facts-based journalism to raise awareness of and counteract disinformation in the North Macedonia media space”, funded by the British Embassy in Skopje. The project aims to provide support to citizens, journalists and civil society organizations to increase public understanding of the origins, motives and impact of disinformation in society.
