European Consortium Including ICS to Develop a Media Literacy Model for Teachers

The Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) is part of the European academic project Teacher Academy for Media Literacy in Europe (TAMeLi), within the Erasmus+ Teacher Academies programme. The project brings together 14 institutions from nine European countries with the aim of advancing teacher education in the field of media and digital literacy.

The project is coordinated by the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium (KU Leuven), and the consortium includes universities, higher education institutions, schools, training centres, media literacy organisations and partners with experience in education, journalism and digital learning.

The project officially started in April 2026, while at the kick-off meeting held in May in Brussels, the consortium aligned its shared vision, working tasks and next steps for the development of the project.

The project aims to support current and future teachers in acquiring knowledge, skills and practical tools for working with children and young people in today’s digital and media environment. Over the next three years, the partners will work on analysing existing models and research, developing innovative approaches to teacher education and training, as well as testing and sharing resources that can be used in teaching and in teachers’ professional development.

ICS participates in the project as a partner with experience in media literacy, research, the development of educational resources and work with teachers, young people, media and institutions. Participation in TAMeLi is an opportunity for experiences from North Macedonia to become part of a broader European exchange of knowledge and practices in media literacy education.

The consortium consists of KU Leuven, Prizma, d-teach online school, Dublin City University, CENJOR – Centro Protocolar de Formação Profissional para Jornalistas, Pädagogische Hochschule Heidelberg, Heidelberg University, Heidelberg School of Education, University of Cologne, Università degli Studi di Firenze, Institute of Communication Studies, University of the Aegean, University of Tartu and Tartu Catholic Education Center.
