Discussion on possible models for institutional response to FIMI
The Institute for Communication Studies (ICS) held the third meeting of the intersectoral coordinative group for countering foreign interference and information manipulation (FIMI). During the meeting, several models for institutional response already implemented in European Union countries, the United Kingdom, and other states were presented. The focus was placed on the possibilities of adapting these practices to the national context. Participants discussed the role of institutions and the need for better coordination in responding to contemporary hybrid threats and external malicious influences.
The working group was also presented with the findings of the baseline assessment, which provide insight into the current situation, as well as the strengths and weaknesses in dealing with information manipulation. These findings are intended to serve as a basis for creating future policies and protocols for a synchronized institutional response.
It was announced that the baseline assessment will be further presented and discussed at a round table to be held at the beginning of April, where broader involvement of relevant institutions and experts is expected. The goal is to encourage a comprehensive and coordinated institutional response.
The meeting is part of broader activities aimed at establishing more effective policies and practices for dealing with foreign influence and strengthening democratic stability.
