Policy Paper: Addressing Foreign Information Manipulation in the Context of European Regulations
This policy paper analyses the regulatory obligations and institutional responsibilities that emerge within the EU legislative framework to strengthen information integrity and increase a society’s resilience to foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI). Since many attempts to deal with harmful content originating from abroad are covered by anti-disinformation policies, we will include these attempts in our investigation. The policy paper starts with a short introduction on the problem of FIMI, followed by an overview of the regulatory landscape in the EU.
