KAIROS Volume 2 | No 1 | March 2022

The rise of digital media has transformed the way we communicate, learn, and consume information. With this shift, it’s more important than ever for young people to develop strong media literacy skills. That’s where KAIROS comes in, ICS’s scientific media literacy journal that has just released its second edition.

The latest edition of KAIROS focuses on how youth can improve their digital media literacy skills, be responsible media consumers, and learn how to use media for good. In this edition, you’ll find articles that explore topics such as disinformation, social media communication, means of improving media literacy education in high schools and universities, and the impact of social and traditional media on mental health.

One of the key messages in this edition is the importance of being a critical media consumer. With the vast amount of information available online, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and fall for false information. KAIROS provides strategies for how to evaluate information and identify credible sources. It also discusses the importance of fact-checking and the potential consequences of sharing disinformation. It holds valuable insights and tools for educators to understand better how young people view media and the need to acquire media literacy skills.

One of the unique features of KAIROS is that it’s written by both experts and academics in the field and provides a well-rounded perspective on the issue of media literacy, and offers insights into the experiences of young people navigating the digital landscape.

In a world where digital media is becoming increasingly pervasive, it’s important that we equip young people with the skills they need to be responsible media consumers. KAIROS is a valuable tool for achieving this goal, and its second edition is a must-read for anyone interested in the topic of media literacy. It’s an essential resource for parents, educators, and young people themselves who want to navigate the digital landscape safely and responsibly.
